One of Xbox’s most popular franchises is the beloved RPG Fable. However, it’s been many years since we’ve taken a new trip into the lands of Albion.
We do have a new Fable game on the way and it has already spent many years in development. Thankfully, the new Fable was finally revealed with an impressive trailer during an Xbox Showcase event in 2023. Yet, rather than being developed by Lionhead Studios, Forza Horizon developer Playground Games will be the new lead on the project.
Check out the Fable trailer below!
“What does it mean to be a Hero? Well, in the fairytale land of Albion, that is entirely up to you. With a dark threat looming, and in a world where your reputation precedes you, your choices will change Albion forever,” reads the description of the upcoming Fable.

At this time, we don't have an exact date as to when the new Fable will arrive but an indie developer has given us a taste of what we might expect with a remake of the original game powered by Unreal Engine 5. The fan-made remake is being developed by YouTuber and Reddit user GamingRidge (though you have to excuse the choppy framerate).
It’s worth keeping in mind that the official upcoming game will be powered by the ForzaTech engine, which could be an interesting design choice given that it’s used for a game of a very different genre. In one of the most recent development update videos on GamingRidge’s YouTube channel, we’re taken to the Orchard Farm but there are many other locations showcased on the channel such as the Bowerstone docks.
At this time, it’s unclear whether this fan-made Fable remake will be made playable to the public, especially as it could face the potential wrath of Microsoft lawyers. Nonetheless, it’s still nice seeing this project gradually come together.
