Baldur’s Gate 3 releases on PlayStation 5 in a few days, but while Sony fans enjoy the new RPG, Xbox fans will be left waiting.
Despite only being available on PC at the moment, Baldur’s Gate 3 has quickly become one of the biggest games of 2023, no doubt helped by its sheer size and in-game activities, which are some of the kinkiest we’ve ever seen in gaming history.

It’s quickly climbed the charts on Metacritic and also Steam. Due to it releasing the same year as Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Starfield, the Game Awards are looking like they’ll be an RPG battleground.

Not everyone has been included in the fun though, as PlayStation fans have been patiently waiting for their PS5 port of the game, which releases on the 6th of September, as have Xbox fans, though the latter will unfortunately have to wait even longer.
The Baldur’s Gate 3 developer, Larian Studios, does have an Xbox version on the way, but it was severely delayed duo to difficulties getting some of the features working on the Xbox Series S. Due to Microsoft’s parity agreement, a game released on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S must have the same features across both versions, though the company has made an exception for Baldur’s Gate 3. The caveat to getting the game on the platform is it’ll launch without split-screen on the Series S.
Larian Studios confirmed the Xbox port will arrive by the end of this year, leading many to believe it could pop up in September shortly after the PS5 version. According to a recent interview though, it could be a bit longer.
Speaking with IGN, Baldur's Gate 3 director Swen Vincke has confirmed the port is aiming for release somewhere between September and November, with no exact release date given. This is due to the team focussing its efforts on upcoming updates/patches for the PC and PS5 versions of the game, though Vincke did say "the Xbox Series X version was already in good shape last time [he] looked at it."

In the meantime, Xbox fans will just have to be patient and hope their port of Baldur’s Gate 3 comes sooner, rather than later.
