Speaking to Genevieve at Star Wars Celebration 2025, I asked what it was like to be the heart of Season 2, and the journey Mon goes on throughout.

“It really meant everything to me, actually, to have the opportunity to explore her in that way, for her to be not just be a pillar or a statue or a role or a leader, but to be flesh and blood and a heartbeat and a pulse and a woman in pain and joy … and that's everything to an actor right?”
With Andor Season 2 taking place across four different years, Mon Mothma goes through a lot of changes as a character.
One part of the series explores her time as a senator, with one scene in particular that stood out as one of the most impactful Star Wars scenes I’ve ever seen.
Without going into spoilers I asked what it was like to film said scene, both physically and emotionally.

“For me, we were always leading to that moment” began Genevieve. “For me, it is the fulcrum of her character, of who that woman is. So the idea that Dan and Tony wrote that speech for me to give was everything I could have hoped for as an actor, not just for me, but also for her, for that character.”
It truly is a remarkable story, and it’s one that I feel will resonate with all Star Wars fans so I’m excited to see the reaction to it when Andor Season 2 drops on 22 April, or 23 April in the UK.
