Xbox users have been long awaiting the arrival of Baldur’s Gate 3 to the platform since it was released exclusively to PC and PlayStation back in August and September. Now, thanks to a recent update by Larian Studios, Xbox fans may not have much longer left to wait.
Despite original plans for Baldur’s Gate 3 to come to the Xbox Series X/S alongside the PlayStation launch, it was later delayed due to technical issues, including problems with the split-screen feature. However, Larian Studios has since gone on to confirm the Dungeons & Dragons inspired title will still be heading to Xbox albeit with a slight revision.

“Latest on the Xbox - being actively playtested, still on schedule for this year,” said Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke back at the start of November. “We’ll announce the exact release date when we’re sure it’s done.”

Now it seems as though Xbox players will be receiving an update during this year's The Game Awards which takes place on 7 December. This will be the perfect time considering Baldur’s Gate 3 has dominated The Game Awards nominations, receiving eight in total. The nominations include Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Score/Music, Best Performance for Neil Newbon, Best Community Support, Best RPG, and Best Multiplayer as well as the coveted Game of the Year.
As it stands, Baldur’s Gate 3 is still on track to arrive to the Xbox Series X/S by the end of 2023. However, with no official release date, fans are worried that time is running out. With the title recently stealing the show at this year's Golden Joystick Awards, it is no wonder players from all platforms wish to get their hands on it. Hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later.
