One upcoming indie game cites The Legend of Zelda as a major inspiration, and many fans of the franchise are itching to dive in.
The game in question is Night Stones, created by developer Advance Nine.
In what’s a pretty bold move, the creator of the title took to the r/Zelda subreddit to share the project, not knowing what the response would be.

I’m thrilled to see that practically everyone is excited at the opportunity to give this indie title a whirl.
“You awake in Mythica, a cosy island where magical stones change day to night,” reads the synopsis.
“Explore winding paths or venture into the wilds with your trusty glider and sailboat. To return home, you must befriend quirky townsfolk, discover hidden treasures, master magic, and face enemies in clever puzzle combat.”
Night Stones is far more Echoes of Wisdom in its approach to gameplay than it is, say, Breath of the Wild, but there’s plenty in this open world that Zelda fans of all tastes will enjoy.

An introductory offer is currently running until 25 November where you can bag the game for £14.23 instead of the usual asking price of £16.75.
It runs on Windows, Mac, and Steam Deck - and a console launch is planned for early next year.
Night Stones should next appear on Nintendo Switch, but ports to other platforms are also in the works.
“Would definitely play this, looks similar to A Short Hike as well,” wrote Reddit user Sealeydeals93.
