Steam has surprised gamers by releasing a free game for everyone to download, no subscription needed. The only catch? You really don't have long to nab it. Less than 12 hours, in fact.
Regular Steam users will know that there's almost always a new free game to download and play on the platform, though it has to be said the quality of those free games tends to vary wildly.
Fortunately, this particular free game is something of a cult classic. Unfortunately, you really do have a very small window in which to claim it for free.

The game in question is UNLOVED, a boomer shooter that started life as a popular DOOM 2 mod. We might be a little late for Halloween, but a free horror game is a free horror game at any time of year.
Check out the game's official Steam synopsis below!
"Based on the community award-winning DOOM 2 mod with the same name by the same creator, UNLOVED is reimagined in Unreal Engine 4 to bring forth the unspeakable terror in new ways. Play co-op with your friends, increase your skills, mod your weapons and face the horror that this unearthly place holds."
You have until 5pm today (UK time) to grab UNLOVED at 100 percent off, at which point it will go back to its regular price of... £3.99. Okay, so I guess you aren't saving a huge amount of money, but you could get a free game and use that £3.99 on a meal deal. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Reviews for UNLOVED are largely positive, too, with players praising the retro-flavoured aesthetic and 'enjoyable grind'.
Many note you'll probably begin to find it a bit repetitive after a while, but for the low price of nothing, who could resent a few hours of shooting demons in the face?
