A new superhero game has released on Steam and is available to download and play for free right now.
It seems that tons of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games are crawling from beneath the sewers to the surface, and as a lifelong TMNT fan, I’m not complaining.
This latest Steam release looks like a blast.

In 2024, we had three releases inspired by the mutant brotherly quartet with TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants, TMNT: Mutants Unleashed and TMNT: Splintered Fate.
Also, let’s not forget the brilliant releases of 2022, namely, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge as well as TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection.

In my review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate, I said: “Combined with its snazzy visuals that look delightful in handheld mode on the Nintendo Switch and the surprisingly good performances of actors for every character, this game is a treat.”
Now, as announced during Steam’s Next Fest, we’re being treated to a new TMNT game in 2025 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown, developed and published by the indie studio Strange Scaffold.
“TMNT: Tactical Takedown is the first-ever turn-based TMNT video game. Inspired by the classic cartoon, you'll experience a bold new approach to the world of the TMNT! Splinter and Shredder are dead, and as the Turtles approach adulthood, they're not just growing up... they're growing apart,” reads the description of the game.
There is no release date at the time of writing, but considering you can download and play its free demo via Steam, hopefully, the launch of TMNT: Tactical Takedown isn't too far away.

As of right now, there’s only mention of a PC release in its gameplay trailers but with a bit of luck, TMNT: Tactical Takedown will eventually sneak its way to consoles.
