Former Assassin’s Creed and Grand Theft Auto developers have joined forces on the upcoming Venture To The Vile from Studio Cut to Bits.
“With a background in creating some of the most beloved and well known AAA open world games to-date, such as GTA, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and BioShock, Cut to Bits is committed to creating games that inspire thoughtfulness in the player, encouraging them to ask inquisitive questions about the choices they are making, the values they hold, and evaluate their points of view,” reads the studio’s website.
You’ll soon be able to see the devs’ work in action as Venture To The Vile is set to release on 7 May 2024.

This 2.5D Metroidvania takes players to the strange town of Rainybrook which has been taken over by the ‘Vile’.
You’ll be tasked with fighting your way through various “treacherous terrains” all whilst defeating a series of formidable enemies. Do so successfully and you will absorb their powers.
This is all in aid of saving your missing friend Ella, “or will you give in to the monster you’ve become?”, the game’s synopsis teases.
Assassin's Creed Codename Red is on the way this year.
In terms of what traversal methods are on offer, you’ll be able to jump and swing your way through Rainybrook, with further traversal and weapons abilities unlocked as you progress through the game.

In addition to looking for Ella, many of the townsfolk will also want your help. This may seem like a distraction but they could provide you with vital clues as to her whereabouts.
The game’s world boasts a day/night cycle and dynamic weather systems that promise to “impact the game in different ways” with some quests and items only appearing under certain conditions.
All in all, the game sounds incredibly intriguing and while its release is a short way off, you can dive into a free demo on Steam right now.
As I said, Venture To The Vile will then launch on Steam on 7 May. Let’s hope it’s eventually ported to other platforms too.
