If there’s one genre I love but often neglect for others, it’s anything considered ‘cosy’.
I always aim to play more, but then other games drift in and, like a magpie, I’m distracted by a new shiny game, leaving things like Stardew Valley languishing.
Cozy and cute, Dragon Song Tavern is one for fans of the genre.
The only game in recent years I played to death was Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but that was perhaps because it dropped in the middle of a worldwide pandemic and everyone was stuck indoors.

I’ve been looking for something similar to Animal Crossing in the hope it will pull me in and keep me coming back.
Now, I’ve heard about Dragon Song Tavern: Cozy & Adventurous which, despite it’s overly long title, could scratch that itch.
The visual aesthetics are cute, verging on adorable; the idyllic setting feels like pure escapism, and the idea of another fishing minigame just appeals to my simple tastes.
Thankfully, there’s a demo available on Steam, right now. I’ve got it downloading to my Steam Deck to try out.

While there isn’t a firm release date set for the full release, at least a demo will give us a taste of things to come.
According to the store page, Dragon Song Tavern is an “enchanting story of two adventurous siblings: the sister Gracie, a warrior, and the brother Elio, a bard”.
It continues, “After impulsively buying a seaside tavern in a coastal trading town, you discover a baby dragon and decide to run the tavern together, forming bonds with new friends and the town's residents.”
Players will be able to fish, cook, grow crops, and gather resources, all while adventuring across “various maps”.

There are plenty of crops and fish to discover, which will keep the hours ticking by, likely offering plenty of gameplay.
Make sure to wishlist this one if cosy games are your jam.
