Who doesn't love getting lost in a good RPG? There's something really special about looking at the time and realising it's 3am, and you've just spent eight hours exploring a huge world, meeting strange characters, and finding treasure.
Lord knows there are enough quality RPGs to be working through in 2024. Here at GAMINGbible we awarded 10/10 scores to both Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Dragon's Dogma 2. But if neither of these games quite tickle your metaphorical pickle, allow me to draw your attention to another 10/10 worthy of your time.
Over on Steam, there's a relatively little-known but well-loved RPG called the The Chronicles Of Myrtana: Archolos. It might not be as universally recognised as Skyrim, or as revered as Dark Souls, but it has a huge following. Better yet, you can actually download and play it for free.

The Chronicles Of Myrtana: Archolos is actually a total conversion mod for Gothic II, but as with most special mods, Archolos has taken on a life all of its own.
"The Kingdom of Myrtana is in a dramatic situation," the game's description teases. "After the major defeat of the royal fleet in the waters of the Eastern Archipelago, the once thriving city of Archolos stood on the brink of crisis. Meanwhile, a young foreigner goes to the island in search of a new, better life."
Archolos is a hardcore old-school RPG that refuses to hold your hand. It allows you simply get lost in its world, make your own choices, and pursue the game's many quests.
The game has hundreds of overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, with many describing it as a fully-fledged Gothic sequel. It's also won tons of awards since launching in 2021, so it's easy to see why so many fans believe it's a 10/10. Heck, Archolos has a higher average score on Steam than Gothic II. This is truly a game made by fans, for fans.
