Steam users can try a new game on their PCs right now that blends the monster-taming gameplay of Pokémon with a distinct art style like that of Hades.
Now that’s a weird combination, I know, as Pokémon and Hades are quite literally nothing alike.
That said Pokémon has been getting slightly more adventurous recently, with Pokémon Legends: Z-A continuing the spin-off playstyle started with Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
That said the two styles obviously work sort of well with one another, otherwise Aethermancer wouldn’t look as cool as it does.

You can find it on Steam right now and while the full game isn’t out yet, it looks pretty good, especially if you like more strategy-oriented games.
The game’s description reads: “Monster Taming meets Roguelite. Become the Aethermancer and fight alongside mythical creatures. Explore the ever-changing Fractured Ruins, plan your moves in challenging turn-based battles, and watch your Monsters grow stronger from previous lives and defy death!”
If that sounds like it could interest you, you’re welcome to try the free demo, which will give you a tiny taste of the action before the rest launches presumably sometime this year.
You can see the similarities with Pokémon obviously by the way you harness the power of various monsters to win battles and reap the rewards.

The connection to Hades is a little harder to spot I grant you that, but in terms of visuals, I don’t think there’s too wide of a difference, and it's a roguelite.
No shade to Hades at all either, it’s a great game and one of the reasons I love the roguelike genre, and I’m very excited to get round to the sequel once it’s in a finished state.
Hades II is currently in early-access at the time of writing with more updates on the way this year. I’d jump in sooner but I’d rather experience everything it’ll have to offer in one go.
