I don’t think it’s radical of me to say that for many of us who played Hogwarts Legacy, the most exciting aspect of the game was actually simply enjoying the day-to-day life of a witch or wizard, more so than engaging in the game’s wider narrative.
Please do not get me wrong, I enjoyed the game’s story but attending classes, shopping in Hogsmeade, collecting magical creatures, personalising the Room of Requirement … That all scratched a cosy game itch.
If you’re nodding along in complete agreement, then you’re going to want to put the game Witchbrook on your radar, an upcoming pixel-art social life sim which builds upon the ideas I’ve just mentioned.

Developed by Chucklefish, Witchbrook will see you travel to Mossport as the town’s newest resident witch.
There, you’ll partake in all of the usual cosy fare, making friends, learning spells, decorating your humble abode, and potentially even finding love.
Witchbrook remains without a trailer but you can enjoy a tour of Hogwarts’ four house common rooms below.
While I can’t show you a trailer for Witchbrook, I can direct your attention to the various screenshots that have been released to tease what the game will offer and they are a sight to behold.

This is the kind of town we all wish we could step inside with its picture-perfect aesthetics.
“Embark on a magical coming-of-age adventure when you enrol as a witch-in-training at Witchbrook College. Journey from the familiar to the fantastical as you learn to harness the magic around you in this detailed life simulation and social RPG,” reads the game’s synopsis.
“Embrace your magical roots by stepping into your ancestor’s role of resident witch to the bustling seaside town of Mossport. Jump on your broom and immerse yourself in a world full of wonder and charm, discovering long lost secrets, spells and spirits!”

“Make friends, find love, and help others to live their dreams as you travel together on the road to graduation and beyond,” it continues.
The only downside to this game is that it doesn’t have a release date or even window.
Witchbrook has been in development since 2017 so you’d hope that it’s nearing completion after eight years.
That awaits to be confirmed but I have a feeling that when this game does finally drop, it’ll be a great reward for our patience.
