A free download just dropped on Steam for an interesting little game that looks like a fun mix between a modern DOOM game, Cyberpunk 2077 and Ghostrunner.
METAL EDEN is an upcoming boomer shooter FPS from developer Reikon Games and Deep Silver, and it's set to drop in less than a month on 6 May.
You don’t have to wait that long to get your hands on it though, as the devs just dropped a free demo for the game on Steam, and the reviews are looking decent.

“A potential for a modern FPS classic. Thoroughly mechanically and visually impressive and satisfying, with particularly intriguing and alluring artistic presentation and design,” writes user .:Jj:..
“Even at this stage, it shows great promise and reflects on the creators' competence and understanding of the basics that make this formula tick. Definitely worth a try- it's a tight, well-rounded demonstration of a possibly great game in the making.”
“One of the best feeling Doom clones I've played in the wake of Doom 2016. With a 4070 I'm getting 80 - 100 fps on high settings (+Lumen) with 4k performance mode DLSS and frame gen on,” writes user Goukimane.
“Only the occasional loading/texture streaming stutter when on the ziplines. Not perfect, and with frame-gen I'd expect closer to 100fps on average but definitely not "unplayable" if you have a decent rig despite what I see from other reviews.”

Don't forget Doom: The Dark Ages is on the way.
Honestly, the only negative reviews I’ve seen for METAL EDEN all directly mention performance-related issues.
Hopefully that means the developers have just enough time to iron out some kinks before it drops next month, because we could have a bit of a banger on our hands if they can.

I know Reikon Games from their work on the game RUINER, an incredibly fun top-down shooter that earned a lot of praise when it dropped back in 2017, so I’m feeling quietly confident about METAL EDEN’s chances.
