Skyrim has helped The Elder Scrolls fandom better narrow down what they appreciate about the franchise, and what they hope to see changed in the next game.
Despite The Elder Scrolls VI feeling like a fever dream at this stage, it will eventually launch – we just might be dead when that happens.
Although its launch date is years away from being announced, fans have hopes for the title, some of which have been fuelled by Shadow of Skyrim.

A fan-made creation, Shadow of Skyrim is an extension that transforms enemies into greater threats to your survival.
But with the increase in difficulty comes unique buffs that help you fight back at these upgraded foes.
It's all fun and games in Skyrim until someone makes a mistake
Created by SoloManGames, and shared on NexusMods, this download will turn “every enemy that defeats you into a unique nemesis”.

In turn, this is said to “provide continuous gameplay experience without saving/reloading”, not ignoring how it “creates emergent stories of revenge” for you to explore.
Using an example provided by the modder, say you encounter an Argonian vampire in Skyrim; instead of that being their name, they’ll have a unique title like “Breaks-Many-Shields”.
Furthermore, they’ll have buffs to go with that new name, e.g. the “Shield-Breaker buff”.
Similar to Elden Ring, if you fall in battle, you’ll need to hunt down your belongings and face your nemesis once more.

Even if this mod is of no interest to you now that you know the details, it’s fair to say that it refreshes the experience.
“Gods, it never ceases to amaze me how regularly a new Skyrim mod comes out that has an unbelievable amount of effort and depth and gives a whole new reason to enjoy the game,” @foreverfirebird5712 remarked on a YouTube video showcasing the mod.
User @sandmasterflex said, “This mod with faction warfare mod and organic faction mod has made my game so much fun.”
Skyrim will never die when creative fans have a vision in their mind of how to improve the RPG for the better.
