A fan-made screenshot of a Red Dead Redemption remake is giving a glimpse of what could have been, making the recent announcement much worse
Rockstar Games crushed the hopes and dreams of many Red Dead Redemption fans yesterday when it was announced the first game would be getting ported to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 later this month.

For months, people have been speculating that a full-on remake would be released for Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms, with many leakers claiming it’d use the same engine as Red Dead Redemption 2.

It seems the rumours were far too good to be true, as what we got instead was a simple port with no improvements, no multiplayer, and a price tag that’s made a lot of people very angry.
While many have slammed Rockstar, claiming the port is lazy, others have been left sadly contemplating what could have been, like Reddit user tamborzd, who shared a post saying: “I didn't wanna get my expectations high... but man I really wanted this” along with a remade screenshot of one of the first game’s biggest moments.
The screenshot is exactly what we would have liked to see, the first game remastered to have the same graphical fidelity as the second, which fits in nicely with the timeline of the games.
Commenters agreed, wishing Rockstar had put in the extra effort and brought the original game up to modern standards, especially since many people will have only played Red Dead Redemption 2, and might have missed out on the first game.

“As someone who still hasn’t played the first game, I really wanted this. It was just too good to be true”
“wait they’re not even remastering the graphics??? we had too much goddamn faith, i guess”
“They just need some goddamn time then they can just release a remake and disappear”
Who knows, maybe after the release of Grand Theft Auto VI Rockstar will give Red Dead Redemption the remake it deserves.
