Uncharted fans lose it over surprise PlayStation trailer

The Drake brothers are back together again

Uncharted fans got a fun little treat last night, as Nathan and Sam Drake are back together again to promote the fact that a much-anticipated Xbox title is finally coming to PlayStation 5.

Yesterday, we finally got the news thousands of us have been waiting for since December last year; MachineGames’ and Bethesda Softworks’ Windows and Xbox Series S/X exclusive title Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is landing on PlayStation 5 on April 17 this year.

To celebrate, two of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’s biggest stars have reunited for a brand new trailer to promote the PS5 port of the game - Nolan North and Troy Baker.

In the new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, North is channelling his usual Nathan Drake vibes, but Baker is taking on the straight-man role (in contrast to his performance as Sam Drake).

Over in a thread reacting to the trailer on the r/uncharted subreddit, fans were mostly just happy to see the two brothers reunited one last time.

“Fun how for a while we were all thinking about what of Troy got a Sam series but then the man gets Indy himself!” commented user KurisuKurigohan.

“Really glad to see the two together again!”

“That’s clever, I like that,” replied user GenXer1977, “And I’ve been waiting for this to come out on PS5.”

So, what does this little collaboration mean? Is it potentially teasing a long-awaited Uncharted 5, or some kind of spin-off detailing Nathan and Sam’s younger years?

Probably not. I think it’s just a nice little way for Sony and Microsoft to promote Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, while simultaneously tipping the hat to Uncharted in the process.

Still, maybe the positive fan reaction will finally convince Sony and Naughty Dog to take a swing at a new Uncharted game somewhere down the line…
