Will The Last of Us Part III ever be a reality? Maybe, though, if we’re to take series creator Neil Druckmann on his word, maybe not.
The Last of Us has been a monumental series for the PlayStation, garnering millions of fans, sparking a TV show from HBO that is impressing with every episode, and the games have been remastered 700 times.
The Last of Us season 2 is currently airing from HBO.
When the second game ended, Ellie went on with her life, and fans have wondered ever since, if we’d get more closure, even if it isn’t for Ellie.

When Druckmann spoke to Variety some time ago, he said, “Don’t bet on there being more of The Last of Us. This could be it,” and fans everywhere were heartbroken.
Since then, the second season of the HBO show has begun airing, and conversation around the franchise is gathering steam again, but the audience is having to temper their expectations.
“For me, the gameplay of Part II was so good that I would be kind of sad if we don't get a continuation of it in a Part III,” said mrniceguy26 over on Reddit.
“I never considered a third part as something that would happen,” said Warm-Intention-1424.

I don’t consider myself a ride or die fan of the series, though I do love both games, and it saddens me that the world of the game is left in a state of limbo.
There didn’t need to be a cure for the virus, or anything huge, but something that breaks the cycle of violence and grief, would have been sweet.
Many fans in the Reddit thread feel like the ending was right, and no more is needed, with one fan saying, “Frankly, I don’t see how a Part 3 could even really work given how 2 ended.”
Perhaps it’s best left alone for now, until a new story emerges, but it’s always sad to say goodbye to characters we’ve grown to love.
