The Last Of Us Part 3 leaves fans seriously divided

Go home, you’re Drunkmann

The Last of Us Part III fans are divided following Naughty Dog chief Neil Druckmann's suggestion that we might not get a trilogy completion.

As soon as The Last of Us was released in 2013 on the PlayStation 3, it became an instant classic for Naughty Dog, placing itself alongside the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted.

Check out The Last of Us Part II Remastered trailer below!

Since that time, we’ve seen a sequel with The Last of Us Part II as well as two remasters and a remake. Now fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the third game to complete a trilogy.

While The Last of Us Part III hasn't been announced, Druckmann has seemingly hinted that a trilogy completion is a possibility. Let’s be honest, it’s too much of a big series to leave it on the table and it feels like we could still get at least one more chapter.

Yet, as reported by GamesRadar (via Variety), when Druckmann was asked about The Last of Us Part III, he said “Don’t bet on there being more Last of Us” and “This could be it.”

However, as the great Ron Burgundy said in Anchorman, “I don’t believe you.” As you can imagine, The Last of Us fans on Reddit (and me) are divided by the words of Neil Druckmann.

Before we proceed, please be mindful of spoilers for The Last of Us Part II below.

“Bruh, they left it on such a cliffhanger it begs for The Last of Us Part III. Kind of salty about this tbh,” said Redditor SlyCooper007.

“What cliffhanger? Abby and Ellie both go their separate ways, that’s it. You don’t really need much more than that,” replied DogHogDJs. “I can understand wanting to see the characters again, but it’s not really a cliffhanger.”

“Not sure I believe this at all. There's still a story to tell about Ellie's immunity and how it plays out,” explained johnjaymjr. “She could be middle-aged, more to lose and gone soft from years of relative comfort, and there’s a medical experiment with a potential sacrifice on her terms.”

“I don't know if I believe this unless he's abandoning the IP. The end of TLOU2 definitely leaves room and even suggests a future for Ellie,” tazfdragon responded. “Maybe not a full story but a subplot. I would love to know what Abby and Lev will do next.”

If we do get The Last of Us Part III, we’ll likely have to wait until after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet but I don’t think it’ll be the last we’ll see of The Last of Us.
