PlayStation Plus first free games for summer confirmed, and fans are hyped

Freebies are coming

PlayStation Plus fans are hyped for the summer, as two releases are confirmed to be launching on the platform from Day 1.

Similar to Xbox Game Pass, there are plenty of games launching on PlayStation Plus Extra from Day 1. If you're a gamer on a budget, it can be a cheap option to try out some of the latest releases.

With the standard prices of games potentially going up to £70 (or even higher), being able to cheaply play these games becomes a much nicer offer for some.

2025 has already seen several games released Day 1 on PlayStation Plus, including Lost Records: Bloom & Rage and Blue Prince.

Sony has already revealed two games launching on PS Plus from Day 1 of release, and it's getting fans hyped.

The games are Abiotic Factor and FBC Firebreak, which are both confirmed for Summer 2025.

Abiotic Factor is a survival crafting game with hints of Half-Life and SCP, where you must survive a containment breach inside a top secret underground research facility.

It's already out on Steam in early access, but will be coming to consoles later this year.

FBC Firebreak is the co-operative Control spinoff where you play as federal agents dealing with an assault by otherworldly forces.

Both games are pretty similar with their subject matter and gameplay, so they should be decent picks for any co-op fans on PlayStation Plus this summer.

"FBC Firebreak seems like an attempt at Left 4 Dead with some actual promise, pleasantly surprised it's on Extra," wrote one comment on Reddit.

"Abiotic Factor is my favorite survival crafting game I’ve played in years," wrote another comment whose played the game on Steam. "It breaks the mold, the nostalgic aesthetic hits perfectly, and the gameplay loop is extremely addictive."

"Please just give me a date. I’m so excited for both of these," a third comment wrote. Yep, we're feeling the same here.

Hopefully we'll get dates for both of these games soon. It looks like FBC Firebreak will be popular based on the fact it's a Remedy game, but Abiotic Factor should appease Half-Life fans looking for something a little new.
