This year’s The Last of Us Day was a prosperous one.
If you don’t know, The Last of Us Day is held on the 26 September every year to mark the fictional anniversary of ‘Outbreak Day’.
Typically, fans are rewarded with exciting updates about the franchise but from time to time, we’re burned. Left with nothing but new screensavers or pricey merch.

This year’s edition brought us the first full-length trailer for season two of HBO’s TV adaptation of the acclaimed Naughty Dog game.
The trailer is everything I could’ve hoped for and more, and it’s a thrill to finally see a real glimpse at Kaitlyn Dever in action as Abby.
Oh how I shall rejoice to see my favourite fictional character finally brought to life in the show.
Additionally, Sony announced that the 2021 remake of The Last of Us Part I would land on PlayStation Plus’ extra tier, which it now has.

That’s a move that’s proved to be a monumental success.
Take a look at that season two trailer below.
As reported by TrueTrophies, PlayStation Plus subscribers dove into the remake in their hordes, with the game already the ninth biggest game ever to join the extra tier.

That’s not all. The addition of the game saw its player count jump by a whopping 1225%.
This firmly places The Last of Us Part I as the third biggest PS Plus launch of 2024, sitting behind only Dave The Diver and The Plucky Squire, two day one launches.
That’s a huge achievement for a game which, assumedly, many PlayStation users have already played.
Want to know what we thought of the remake?

In our original review, we awarded it a nine, writing, “It may not be the expanded edition some fans were wishfully hoping for, but The Last Of Us Part I is a remake that wholly improves on the original by utilising both the capabilities of the PlayStation 5 and The Last of Us Part II’s advanced mechanics. Fans have spent the last several weeks scrutinising teasers, but The Last of Us Part I offers an effect only truly appreciated when played as a whole - creating the immersive experience Naughty Dog could only dream of back in 2013.”
The Last of Us Part I is available on PlayStation Plus’ extra tier now.
