2024 has been rather quiet for PlayStation with many gamers wondering what we’ll see from the company as the year progresses.
While they’ve seen success with titles like Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade, news has been relatively thing on the ground compared to other years. However, the Japanese developer and publisher is teasing an update of sorts.
Stellar Blade is the latest PlayStation 5 exclusive that gamers are loving
For a while now rumours have been swirling that PlayStation would be holding an event in May, but as May is slowly dwindling, many believe Sony has shifted the event back.

While nothing solid has been confirmed, Sony did release a statement saying they will be making announcements in May to inform players of their “long-term vision.”
Coming from PlayStation boss Hiroki Totoki, the message is still a bit cryptic, but it could point to us seeing a State of Play event or a PlayStation Showcase this month pointing to what’s ahead for this year.
There are several games that could appear at a showcase - Bungie’s Marathon, the remake of Until Dawn, Marvel’s Wolverine, to name a few. However, with us being so close to Summer Games Fest, it could be a more low-key showing.
Sony has plenty of developers under their wings and many of the big studios like Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, and Guerilla Games working away on projects we may get a glimpse of what’s to come.

Given that Totoki himself has said that May is the month for updates on a “Long-term vision” this could be the time we finally see the much-rumoured PlayStation 5 Pro console as this would fulfil the idea of ‘long-term’.
We’ll have to wait and see how the month unravels for Sony, but it’s likely we’ll have some very exciting news by the end of the month, to chew over until the manic hype of the summer showcases.
