Some PlayStation users will soon be able to partake in a beta for upcoming release Predecessor - a game which has exclusively been in beta on PC for close to a year.
Developed and published by Omeda Studios, Predecessor describes itself as a “fast-paced action game that combines MOBA and FPS gameplay, putting you at the heart of the fight with strategic choice, third-person control, and immersive action.” It looks like a ton of fun and as I mentioned, has been up and running on PC for quite some time - although only in Early Access. The game sees you team up with four fellow players. Each match features two teams of five, with each player controlling a unique hero.
Take a look at Predecessor in action below.
Each hero will have their own unique abilities and design, and you’ll be able to select which hero you want to play as to match your style of play - similarly to games like Overwatch 2. Within the game, you’ll have objectives allowing you to earn gold which can be used in the in-game shop in order to access new abilities (like invisibility and freezing time) as well as new locations. The more objectives you fulfil - with objectives including killing minions, towers, and enemy heroes - the more powerful you will become.

In time, your speed, health, and other stats will increase. For the first time, PlayStation users will soon be able to join in and the number of playable heroes has increased from 10 in a previous build to 30 now. The upcoming beta will be cross-platform and is due to kick off on PlayStation 4 and 5 on 5 December.
If you want to get involved, you can head over to the beta’s sign up page. Fun fact for you fact fans: Predecessor claims to be the first MOBA to run in Unreal Engine 5 so you should expect to be dazzled by what’s on display. If you are selected to join in the beta, a press release confirms that progress made will carry over when Predecessor launches in full.
