PlayStation gamers obsessed with free 500 RPG, no PS Plus required

Weekend plans sorted

The weekend is almost upon us and what better way to spend the free days than sinking our time into an epic RPG, especially as it is free to download.

No catch.

Without needing a PlayStation Plus subscription, PlayStation 5 users can download this free-to-play RPG which has taken the world by storm since it was first released back in 2013.

Check out Path of Exile in action below!

Since then, the game has gone on to receive a sequel but with some players admitting that they still prefer the original, it is definitely worth making use of this free download.

The game is Path of Exile, an action RPG set in a dark fantasy world.

Developed by Grinding Gear Games, Path of Exile puts you in the shoes of an Exile who is struggling to survive on the dark continent of Wraeclast.

However, you must get stronger if you wish to enact revenge on those who wronged you.

“Earn devastating skills and valuable items as you fight your way through the dark continent of Wraeclast. With unrivaled character customization, Path of Exile is an award-winning online Action RPG created by hardcore gamers, for hardcore gamers,” the official PlayStation description reads.

In December 2024, Path of Exile 2 was released in early access thanks to the success of its predecessor but there is no denying that the original game has captured the hearts of millions of fans.

Path of Exile still sits at a ‘very positive’ rating on Steam with reviews praising its hardcore gameplay, co-op support, and endless possibilities.

“One of the best ARPGs out there, and it’s free,” one positive review read.

Another read: “Not a game for the weak willed or the casual.

It will take persistence to just deal with the basics, and commitment to master. But for those that do master it, this is a game of near endless possibilities.

Lots of room to tinker and experiment with characters and classes. You will hold the power. Do you have what it takes to wield it effectively?”
