A rather price piece of PlayStation hardware is about to get a lot less pricey, as Sony has confirmed that it’s getting a whopping $150 price decrease next month.
If you’ve ever fancied getting ahold of a PlayStation VR2 headset but thought “good lord that thing is $549.99 and I have to pay rent this month”, then I have some great news for you.
That’s because, as revealed on the official PlayStation Blog, the PS VR2 is getting a pretty ginormous price cut.

“For those of you who have been waiting for the opportunity to jump into PlayStation VR2 and experience what this generation’s innovative virtual reality system has to offer, we are happy to share some great news,” writes Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment.
“Starting in March, we’re reducing the recommended retail price (RRP) of PS VR2.”
By reducing the “recommended retail price” of the PlayStation VR2 headset, that means that said price decrease will actually be permament - all the way down from an RRP of $549.99 to $399.99.
Over on a Tweet revealing the news from PlayStation’s official Twitter account, players were pretty thrilled to find out that the device had suddenly become a lot more affordable.

“I love this device,” commented user @SynthPotato, “great library and the pc adapter is a great addition, new price makes a lot more sense i recommend it. RE4 remake on VR alone made it worth it.”
“The best product of Sony,” replied user @Drgamer07648197, “People need to try it to believe. This is the future of gaming.”
“Finally!” commented user @tomlikestocode, “$399 makes PSVR2 way more accessible. Now just need more AAA VR games to justify the purchase!”
I’ll be honest, I’ve always wanted to grab one of these, but the price point had always just been way above what I’d be willing to pay.

Roughly $400 is still a little bit much for me, based on the amount of games I’d probably be interested in actually playing on the PS VR2, but hey, give it a couple of years and I might finally own one of these bad boys.
