As of tomorrow, PlayStation Plus gamers will lose a great way to earn PS Stars rewards points which go towards claiming free store credit.
PlayStation Stars is a free Sony rewards scheme that gifts members who complete easy campaigns with reward points or digital collectables (not NFTs) to display on their PS mobile app.

To take part in PlayStation Stars, first you sign up for free, then download the free PS mobile app and once signed in, you’re good to go. Campaigns typically consist of firing up some of the latest PlayStation Plus games, earning a specific in-game trophy or simply making purchases via the PS Store.

One other sure-fire way to earn points was by subscribing (or resubscribing) to PlayStation Plus. This was a fantastic earner, especially if you signed up for a year of PS Plus in one go, which is overall the cheapest option.
The reward points can be spent on exclusive digital collectables, specific full games, in-game currency or best of all, £5 or £10 credit to spend on the PlayStation Store. You were also able to claim £20 in credit but Sony has since removed that option.
Now, as reminded to us by TrueTrophies.com, as of 1 March 2025, you will not be able to earn PlayStation Stars rewards points by purchasing a subscription to PS Plus.
So if you were thinking of subscribing or adding further months to your plan, today would be a great time to do so, if you want to earn a batch of reward points to buy free PlayStation Store credit.

Hopefully, Sony won't remove the ability to earn points by making standard purchases via the PlayStation Store, otherwise, it’s going to take much longer than usual to claim free store credit if we have to rely on being drip-fed standard campaigns.
