PlayStation 5's latest RPG is finally available to download, and it's already managed to fly past Starfield on Metacritic. Although, we should absolutely stress: both games are brilliant in their own ways.
Starfield launched in early access last week, and will be available to a wider audience in less than 24 hours. While Bethesda's latest has seen a lot of critical acclaim, including a GAMINGbible 10/10, some lower scores from other outlets has led to a lower-than-expected Metacritic score of 88. That's lower than Skyrim, but higher than Fallout 4.
Take a look at our Starfield review below!
For those paying attention, this is the week that Baldur's Gate 3 finally lands on PlayStation 5. The game has already dominated Steam and won rave reviews, so it's little surprise that the PS5 version of the RPG already has a Metacritic score of 97.
Advert
GAMINGbible is currently playing through Baldur's gate 3 on PS5, and while we certainly don't feel comfortable sharing a scored review just yet since it's a massive game, we feel confident saying it delivers just as brilliant an experience on console as it does on PC. This is a hugely ambitious, one-in-a-generation RPG that should be played by everyone, and we can't wait to see it come to Xbox later this year so everyone can enjoy it.
As for whether or not it's better than Starfield? Sure, it has a higher Metacritic score, but these are two very different games that are trying to do very different things. Starfield is an excellent space-exploration sim with plenty of fun FPS-style setpieces to enjoy. Baldur's Gate 3 is a D&D RPG with a much greater focus on strategy, both in and out of battle.
Both games are excellent, both are worth your time. Personally, I'm attempting to play them concurrently. Check in with me next week to see if I actually managed to get any sleep.
