Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has won its first Game of the Year award, handed out by none other than … Sony itself. Big Obama giving Obama the medal meme energy.
If you tuned in to this year’s The Game Awards, you’ll have seen that it was Baldur’s Gate 3 who took home the top trophy on that occasion - a worthy winner indeed. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a stellar game that I urge you all to play but quite honestly, the trophy was anyones for the taking. All of this year’s GOTY nominees are fantastic. Baldur’s Gate 3 was up against Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Resident Evil 4, and Alan Wake 2. Of course, Keighley’s The Game Awards isn’t the only awards showcase. The yearly PlayStation Blog award winners have just been revealed and unsurprisingly, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 took home the most accolades.
Take a look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in action below.
There’s a tad more to this. Sony isn’t simply giving itself a pat on the back. The awards were fan voted. Then again, in the paraphrased words of Miranda Priestly: PlayStation fans? Voting for the PlayStation exclusive? Groundbreaking. In the PS5 Game of the Year race, winner Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was followed by runners up Baldur’s Gate 3, Final Fantasy XVI, and Alan Wake 2 respectively. Insomniac also won studio of the year.
