When Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games released Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 in 2018, it instantly became one of Sony’s most valuable first-party studios.
So when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 swung its way onto the PlayStation 5 this year, it was no surprise that this became one of the best games of 2023, a year stacked with some amazing titles. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 claimed a top 10 spot in GAMINGbible’s Game of the Year awards.

In our review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we said: “Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle.”

At the time of writing, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 does not have a New Game Plus mode. Much like the recent Alan Wake 2 update, this means those who have finished the main story, will not be able to start a new campaign with all gear and upgrades carried over. Thankfully, however, that is about to change, but we’re going to have to be a little patient
This week, Insomniac Games announced on social media that the New Game Plus mode and audio descriptions as well as other features are on the way, but have been delayed into early 2024. “We have some news about the next game update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We know players have been eagerly awaiting features such as New Game Plus and audio descriptions, among many more,” said the studio. “We have been working vigilantly on these features and require more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards.”

It continued: “We are now targeting early 2024 for the next game update, and we'll have a feature-complete list closer to its release. We've heard your feedback and will be adding some highly requested features, including the ability to change the time of day, swap tendril colours, and replay missions - just to name a few!”
Hopefully, we’ll be waiting no longer than February 2024 for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s New Game Plus mode. Either way, whenever it may or may not arrive, we’re sure it will be worth the wait. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is out now on PlayStation 5.
