When it comes to PlayStation exclusives, few have generated the level of charm quite like the beloved LittleBigPlanet series.
Originally released in 2008 for PlayStation 3, developed by Media Molecule, LittleBigPlanet is a creative game starring the iconic mascot Sackboy. LittleBigPlanet gave players the creative tools to make unique levels and puzzles in the game which could then be shared with the PS3 online community.

I was amazed in 2008 by not just how gorgeous LittleBigPlanet looked on PS3 but also the incredible depth and freedom it allowed players to pretty much create whatever they wanted with the vast limitations of its world. It also featured one of the best tutorials in gaming narrated by Stephen Fry that I suspect very few people skipped.

The LittleBigPlanet series would later spawn sequels and spin-offs that fans could not get enough of. However, with the release of LittleBigPlanet 3 in 2014, Media Molecule handed over the reins to Sumo Digital, which later brought us the brilliant Sackboy: A Big Adventure in 2020.
Media Molecule took everything they learned from LittleBigPlanet and evolved their skills into 2020’s Dreams which took player creation to the next level. Dreams on PS4 was so in-depth, that players could create full video games and even animated movies, it really was an incredible game, to say the least.
Sadly in 2023, support for Dreams came to an end, this was followed by reports that Dreams was to receive a PS5 upgrade but due to mass lay-offs that project was cancelled. Thankfully, despite its troubles, Media Molecule announced in 2023 that it was still working on a new game, but it won't be Dreams 2 or related to LittleBigPlanet.
Now, new details on the new IP have emerged due to a recent job listing at Media Molecule. The new job listing in question is for a principal programmer for art technology at the Guildford-based studio.

A section of the job listing reads that the would-be new employee will work “closely with the wider programming team to define and champion technical requirements and standards for Media Molecule’s new IP." The details on the project are vague but it at least re-confirms that a new game from the developer is on the way.
It will be interesting to see if this will be another creative sandbox game again from Media Molecule or if it will be something else entirely. Only time will tell.
