The Last of Us’ season two premiere is fast approaching, and I am positively hyped about that fact.
Already, The Last of Us has secured a season three renewal, but it’s no surprise that HBO is confident in the show; season two has achieved a score of 92% over on Rotten Tomatoes.
It’s this coming Sunday, 13 April, that the show will finally return on HBO.

That equates to Monday 14 April on Sky and NOW for those of us in the UK.
The season will begin to adapt Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II and while I won’t spoil what it’s about, I will say that it centres around ideas of vengeance and the cycle of violence.
In fact, I recently had the opportunity to catch up with one of the game’s stars at the BAFTA Games Awards.
ICYMI: Take a look at season two’s trailer in action below.
You may perhaps know the lovely Ashly Burch best as Aloy in Guerrilla Games’ excellent Horizon franchise, but Ashly also brought Mel to life in The Last of Us Part II.

On the BAFTA red carpet, I was keen to get Ashly’s thoughts on what it’ll be like to soon see a new iteration of Mel brought to life.
“I’m friends with Craig Mazin who is the co-creator and showrunner of the show and he texted me after the spoilery thing happens to Mel, and I’m very excited to see it,” she told us.
“Excited is a weird word … I’m interested to see it. It’s very dark what happens, so I’m interested to see it, but I’m sure it’s going to be awesome.”
As for whether Ashly has exchanged any words with TV Mel actress Ariela Barer, the actress had this to say: “We’ve not met, but I’m sure she’s going to do amazing.”

Those who watched the first season will know that several video game actors cameoed in the TV series, including the likes of Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson and Jeffrey Pierce.
Could we see Ashly Burch pop up in season two or beyond?
“I would love to show up, so if they want me, I’d be there.”
I’m sure I can speak on behalf of fellow fans when I say that we’d love to see it; Ashly is a positive source of light in this industry.

Craig, Neil, if Ashly isn’t in season two, you’ve got the greenlight to make it happen next time around.
