Guerrilla Games’ Horizon franchise is well and truly thriving.
Last month brought us the launch of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered which was a resounding success.
Naysayers questioned the need for the project but the release won over critics with its impressive upgrades, securing a score of 85 on aggregate website Metacritic.

Here at GAMINGbible, we awarded the rerelease a score of nine, writing, “You may not have thought it possible, but this version of Aloy’s world is even more beautiful, with Nixxes’ subtle attention to detail resulting in a space that feels even more immersive and brimming with life.”
That was swiftly followed by LEGO Horizon Adventures which, yes, received a slightly more mixed response but there’s plenty to love about the game despite its shortcomings.
I had the opportunity to review it, awarding this “fun but fleeting romp” a score of seven.
There’s no denying though that scores aside, Horizon fans are feasting well in terms of the breadth of content - and that extends into early 2025.

It looks as if Guerrilla has another surprise up its sleeve as despite not having yet officially been announced, a Horizon multiplayer title looks set to launch early next year.
Take a look at LEGO Horizon Adventures in action below.
Horizon Online, as it’s colloquially being referred to, hasn’t been revealed yet but it’s essentially been confirmed by job ads posted in recent years.

In fact, I had the opportunity to speak to Guerrilla’s studio director Jan-Bart Van Beek earlier this year who offered a very sheepish “maybe” when I enquired about the possibility of a multiplayer release.
Well, Twitter user Jorraptor has spotted an interesting related update.
Guerrilla is currently hiring for yet another new role, well, internship.
The studio is seeking out a ‘Release QA’ intern with the internship running in “the first half of 2025”.

The role includes acquiring “both theoretical knowledge and practical experience to ensure the game is prepared for launch”. Very interesting.
It certainly sounds then as if Horizon Online is either prepping for an early 2025 launch, or it’ll be announced during that window with a launch perhaps slipping into the latter half of the year.
Either way, it looks to be arriving far sooner than any of us anticipated.
There have been whispers that Ghost of Yōtei and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will not be Sony’s only major 2025 releases after 2024 proved to be a pretty quiet year.

Let’s not forget that the company is celebrating its 30th anniversary next month with many suspecting that a showcase may be on the way.
It would be nice to see Horizon Online surface there if it happens, but I may be getting ahead of myself.
