Guerilla Games’ 2017 post-apocalyptic robot-animal hunting title Horizon Zero Dawn is about to hit the silver screen.
The news was announced yesterday during Sony’s panel at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show by the head of PlayStation Productions, Asad Qizilbash.
The film will be another Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions joint venture, following their recent collaborations on both 2022's Uncharted and 2023's Gran Turismo.

The partnership seems to be a permanent ongoing thing, as Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions will also be teaming up to tackle the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation and a sequel to Uncharted.
Sony and HBO also dropped a new trailer for The Last of Us' second season.
Beyond all of this… there’s not really much else we know about the adaptation. No dates or casting news has been revealed, although Asad Qizilbash did have this to say regarding the production.

"Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions are at the early stages of developing a film adaptation of the award-winning Horizon Zero Dawn,” Qizilbash stated at the CES reveal.
“Just imagine, Aloy's beloved origin story set in a vibrant, far future world filled with the giant machines, brought to you for the first time on the big screen."
Yeah well, you’ll be imagining for a hell of a lot longer, because I can’t imagine we’ll be seeing this for quite some time.
Columbia Pictures and Sony Productions have their hands full with Ghost of Tsushima and Uncharted 2, and a Horizon Zero Dawn film sounds like a pretty big undertaking to me.

Casting-wise, fans are throwing around a lot of names for Aloy.
I’ve seen people suggesting Sophia Lillis (of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and It fame) and Anya Taylor-Joy (best known for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Menu and The Witch), but ignore all of those dorks and listen to my fan casting instead; Amber Midthunder.
Either way, prepare to wait a good year or so before you hear anything out of this one.
