In the wake of animated video game adaptations such as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and more recently, Arcane, it seems as though studios are wanting to get in on the action.

This time, it is Ghost of Tsushima’s turn.

Not to be confused with the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends multiplayer component of the same name.

Announced by Sucker Punch Productions, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is an upcoming anime series based on the cooperative multiplayer mode of the same name.

Arriving to Crunchyroll in 2027, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends was announced during yesterday’s CES 2025 press event where the main focus was the ever-growing popularity of anime.

Developed via a collaboration between Crunchyroll itself and Aniplex, the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime will be inspired by the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 game and has quite an exciting roster of talent working on it behind the scenes.

The official press release reads as follows: “Takanobu Mizuno (Star Wars: Visions 'The Duel') will direct the series at Kamikaze Douga, with Gen Urobuchi writing the story composition. The anime will be produced in collaboration with Aniplex, with Sony Music serving as music and soundtrack partner. Additional staff and cast were not announced at the time of the panel.”

“Ghost of Tsushima’s rich, immersive world and its fantastical Legends mode based on Japanese mythology provide the perfect canvas for this project,” added Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions.

“Aniplex is the perfect partner to translate Sucker Punch Productions’ hit video game into a stunning new anime series.”

If you are unaware, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is the multiplayer spin-off of Ghost of Tsushima which allows players to choose from four unique classes - Samurai, Hunter, Ronin or Assassin - and team up with friends or hit online matchmaking.

It is available for free for players who already own Ghost of Tsushima but can also be bought as a standalone title.
