God Of War fans rejoice as new IP tease spotted online

God Of War fans rejoice as new IP tease spotted online

What could this be?

It seems that God of War developer Santa Monica Studio is cooking up something new, but what could it be?

Without question, Sony’s Santa Monica Studio is best known for bringing us the God of War series since its inception in 2005 for the PlayStation 2. Since then, the series has grown more popular and arguably better with each new release.

Check out the God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla trailer below!

The most recent entry in the series is God of War Ragnarök released in 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, before being ported to PC. This critically acclaimed game then benefited with the launch of the awesome Valhalla expansion in 2023, which was given away for free.

At this time, we don’t know when the next God of War game might arrive, despite the Valhalla DLC potentially teasing that the series could be headed to Egypt or South America next. We’ll just have to patiently wait for publisher Sony to tease us with more Kratos goodness in the coming months or years.

However, a next project from Santa Monica Studio may have been spotted online after a ResetEra user noticed a LinkedIn profile of an art director at the development studio that teases a brand new IP is on the way.

A relevant section of Glauco Longhi’s LinkedIn profile reads: “Santa Monica Studio’s presented the opportunity of coming back as Character Supervisor, looking after the entire Character Development pipeline on their new IP, so here I am, thrilled to be back, working again with the crew and pushing characters in video games together.”

Of course, this is by no means an official confirmation that a new game from Santa Monica Studio is on the way, but it is as close as it perhaps gets. It should come as no surprise that we’ll get a new God of War game at some point but it is an exciting prospect as to what else Santa Monica Studio also has in the works.

We’ll keep you posted when we hear of what this secret IP could be.
