A return to Kratos’ younger days is apparently happening, though God of War fans aren’t exactly thrilled by the news.
Since the end of God of War Ragnarök, fans have been wondering what will happen to Kratos next.
In fact, some have even wondered whether the god will pass the torch to Atreus so that he’ll take over as the lead character.

Rumours are now circulating that we’ll revisit younger Kratos, back when he was in Greece.
This insider claim was shared on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours by -LastGrail-.

“Tom Henderson has heard that young Kratos is going back to Greece,” the title reads.

The OP then adds that these claims haven't been verified. What is more, it’s unclear whether this will take the form of a prequel, reboot, or remaster.
Despite a significant lack of details on this, enough fuel has fed the fire of discourse on this subreddit.
“Hopefully if that young Kratos thing is true, it’s more just a remaster/remake. I can’t imagine [Santa Monica] going back in time to that era after Valhalla,” argued notewise.
User HearTheEkko commented, “There's not much left to tell about a young Kratos in Greece besides how he got out of there so I doubt it's a prequel. Also doubt it's a remake unless some other studio worked on it.”

The biggest gripe for a lot of PlayStation fans opposed to this rumour is that this section of Kratos’ life has already been covered.
To quote dinofreak6301, “What more can they even do with young Kratos [...] We saw him kill like the entire mythology, what’s left?”
Sometimes, leaving the past behind us is the better course of action. Unfortunately, fans are unlikely to get a say on this if the rumour is true.
It’s a big if, so while discussion about a prequel has proven polarising among fans, it’s best to not get too carried away until we learn more. We could all be getting up in arms for nothing.
