Resident Evil and Far Cry fans should check out this new upcoming horror game that makes the town of Silent Hill look like a picnic.
I’m always happy when a promising new indie horror title is on the way, especially when it blends two of my all-time favourite series, Resident Evil and Silent Hill, with an added hint of Ubisoft’s Far Cry action.
As of late, it’s been a great time for fans of the survival horror genre with the likes of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Crow Country, and Still Wakes the Deep all arriving in 2024.

The survival horror goodness doesn't stop there, because this year we can look forward to Cronos: The New Dawn, Silent Hill f, followed by Resident Evil: Requiem in 2026. Oh, and let’s not forget that the original Silent Hill is getting a remake.
However, another game that should perhaps be on our radar is the upcoming indie game from Hitori De Productions, Bleak Haven.
“Bleak Haven is a cinematic survival horror where faith is twisted, every shot matters, and survival hangs on what you can build,” reads the description of the game on Steam. “Explore haunted ruins, abandoned villages, and face a cult preparing the world for a god no one should ever witness.”

Judging by the gameplay trailer for Bleak Haven, it does look a bit janky from time to time, but it at least seems to have some promise, especially with its eerie tone and grotesque creatures.
The monster that we see at the end of the trailer reminds me of the sinister Guardian from The Evil Within 2.
“The trailer indicates atmospheric horror without touting generic jumpscare faces as a selling point,” said masonpines6349, commenting on a trailer on YouTube. “It has imaginative creature design, and the gore is creative and purposeful.”
“The amount of survival horror games coming out now is incredible, and I'm 100% here for it,” exclaimed marlonabbas8171.

“This looks good and janky at the same time,” replied ramiyohay7286.
Bleak Haven does not have a release date, but it is intended to be released on Steam at some point this year. In the meantime, you can join over 6,000 others by adding the game to your wishlist.
