Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty devs have warning for PlayStation 5 players

CD Projekt Red has a vital warning for anyone who wants to play Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty on PlayStation when it launches.

CD Projekt Red has a vital warning for anyone who wants to play Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty on PlayStation when it launches.

It’s almost time for Cyberpunk 2077 players to embark on a brand-new adventure with the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Check out the Phantom Liberty DLC below

The DLC will see V and Johnny Silverhand travel to Dog Town, an enormous addition to the game’s open world, complete with a new story, quests, and faces, one of which is none other than Idris Elba as a new character called Solomon Reed. You can’t bang him though, so any of you degenerates who bought the DLC for that will be sorely disappointed.

Phantom Liberty will unlock at midnight, though Cyberpunk 2077’s developer, CD Projekt Red, has a warning for those playing the expansion on PlayStation 5.

Shared via its official social media channels, the warning reads: “Important information for PlayStation 5 gamers — If you purchased the Cyberpunk 2077 + Phantom Liberty bundle, to download Phantom Liberty claim it from the PlayStation Store by pressing "download" once the game releases at midnight local time. We apologize for the lack of a pre-load.”

It went on to say: “The pre-order Quadra may not be available for PlayStation at first. This may especially affect regions where the game will release first due to their time zones. We are working to ensure players receive their bonus as soon as possible!”

Mildly frustrating news for PlayStation fans, but it’s not the end of the world. You should still be able to jump onto Phantom Liberty when it unlocks tonight provided you follow the instructions.

The hype is extraordinary, with the DLC already having overwhelmingly positive scores on Metacritic, with many believing Phantom Liberty is Cyberpunk 2077’s final step on its road to redemption, following its disastrous launch. We’ve played it, and can confidently say it’s one of the best expansions we’ve ever played in our review.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be available for Xbox, PlayStation and PC players on 26 September.
