An extremely promising-looking indie title looks like a very charming mix of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Stardew Valley, and it sounds like we’ll finally be able to get our hands on the long-awaited project very soon.
The first time we heard about World of Anterra was back in August 2022, with the launch of the title's Kickstarter page. Since then, it has succeeded in absolutely demolishing its goal, amassing a total of 397,766 Canadian dollars. For comparison, that’s roughly 213,735 British pounds.
The title has never had an exact release date and still doesn’t, but developer and publisher 81monkeys has recently updated the Steam listing of World of Anterra to reflect its new 2025 release target.

The developers describe the game as “an epic non-linear, open-world role playing adventure set in a diverse and living handcrafted world”, and I gotta say it looks incredibly ambitious.
The “endlessly explorable open world, deep progression systems, fast paced combat, and rich lore” is a big of enough promise as it is, but when you consider that this whole game is a handcrafted pixel-art title… look all I’m saying is I’m not surprised it’s taken them this long to get a game like this out the door.
81monkeys has stated that they are committed to releasing World of Anterra on PC, Mac, and consoles, but it sounds like the PC release is the one that’s coming first.
No word on when they’re planning to drop it, but the Kickstarter backers have been promised an early access demo on Steam. Considering the rough 2025 release date, I’d say it’s safe to assume that said early access demo is probably on its way very soon.

Here’s hoping we can get our hands on this one ASAP, because I’m already sold. In the meantime though, you can wishlist World of Anterra on Steam.
