Red Dead Redemption has just benefited from an 8K remaster that looks so good, I think it’s going to make me cry. Well, I’m not that dramatic but I think you get my point.
When the original Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010 by Rockstar Games, it instantly became one of the greatest video games of all time and even after all these years, it’s aged like a fine wine.

“Experience the story of former outlaw John Marston as he tracks down the last remaining members of the notorious Van der Linde Gang in the PC debut of the critically acclaimed predecessor to Red Dead Redemption 2,” reads the synopsis on the Steam store.

In 2023, Red Dead Redemption was re-released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. There was no new Xbox release because this was a straight-up port and the original game was already backwards compatible with the Microsoft console.
However, there was still no PC launch in sight but thankfully, after 14 years of patiently waiting, that port arrived in October 2024. Natively, Red Dead Redemption has never looked better, especially as players no longer have to rely on emulation.
Furthermore, as PC gamers will know, one of the biggest benefits that they have over console counterparts is the glorious modding community and Red Dead Redemption is already proving to be no exception.
As reported by DSOgaming, one such mod showcased by the YouTube channel Digital Dreams, has taken Red Dead Redemption to new heights by not only playing the game with an 8K resolution but at a 100fps performance.

Red Dead Redemption on PC is officially capable of 144fps but that’s at a resolution of 4K.
What’s more, powered by Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090, this PC port of Red Dead Redemption also takes advantage of upscaled textures, as well as reshade ray-tracing.
Red Dead Redemption is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
