Do you stop and look at Red Dead Redemption 2 and think to yourself “this looks too bright”? If so, this mod is going to change your life.
Okay, so maybe it won’t go that far, but it’ll make your experience of Red Dead Redemption 2 a lot more authentic to the original adventure.
Photorealistic graphics have been teased for the next Red Dead instalment, yet there’s something about the gritty, moody colour palette of the first game that we can’t stop thinking about.

The outlaw life is calling – will you answer in Red Dead Redemption 2?
‘Lonely West’ sounds like it’s about to deliver a plethora of new quests, but that isn’t its goal at all. In fact, it’s a simple reshader. However, don’t be foolish by overlooking this mod because its subtle reshade changes the entire mood of RDR2.
As one NexusMods member commented, “[It’s the] best RDR1 reshade for RDR2.” Someone else seconded this saying, “This is the best RDR2 reshade I've seen.”

Don’t let anyone say reshaders aren’t game changers.
With this mod in effect, just imagine how atmospheric it would be to follow the Night Folk to uncover the secrets they keep... We’ve got goosebumps thinking about it.
Equally spooky bathed in the colours of the first game, there’s a haunting experience awaiting any RDR2 player brave enough to encounter this ghost few of us have had the (mis)fortunate of meeting.
We can’t think of any better way for Arthur to explore the western landscape than this mod, and it seems plenty of other players agree.

“Damn, nice job! Really looks like the RDR1 on an upgraded engine!” remarked NexusMods user TheMercsAssassin, just in case you’re still sitting on the fence about this free download.
With a Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen edition teased, we’re getting back on the saddle to keep Arthur’s legacy going. And now we can do so while paying homage to the brooding aesthetic of RDR1.
