PC gamers surprised with free Xbox Game Pass, check your emails

Check those inboxes folks

PC players are getting free subscriptions to Xbox Game Pass with no strings attached, so check your inbox.

There’s no better time for a freebie either, especially since Xbox is increasing the cost of Xbox Game Pass going forward, much to the dismay of current and new subscribers.

Though if you’re a PC player the price hike isn’t as bad, as it’s slightly cheaper than the console version mainly because there’s less for you to play.

Some players have even been receiving free trials for the subscription, from the unexpected source of Blizzard Entertainment.

A Reddit thread pointed out that some email addresses have been sent one month of Xbox Game Pass for free, leading to speculation that more Activision and/or Blizzard Entertainment games will soon be added to the service.

Users confirmed they’d received codes, with one saying “just checked my email and I received it yesterday” though others have pointed out “it's only for new users.”

It’s also prompted speculation on what games could be on the way, with some believing it’s a hint World Of Warcraft could be coming, whereas others believe it’s a way of getting “more people to play Diablo 4 with the latest updates.”

That being said, a freebie is a freebie, so if you’ve got a code in your inbox there’s no harm in redeeming it. If you do activate it though, be sure to double-check it hasn’t automatically switched on recurring billing, as you’ll have to cancel that before your month it up if you don’t want to pay for any more.

You never know, maybe this generous gift from Blizzard Entertainment is a sign that more games are coming to Xbox Game Pass, perhaps justifying that heft price increase.
