January is finally coming to an end. And with its passing comes a free Hogwarts Legacy update that many fans are keen to play.
Since the big summer update, Hogwarts Legacy hasn’t offered players much by way of new content.
Disappointing though that may be, it’s allowed the modding community to steadily fill the gaping hole that a lack of DLC has left behind.

This has led to a free update being created by the devs in support of this thriving part of the Wizarding World.
The new mod support update for Hogwarts Legacy is now live.
You likely saw the Twitter post the other day when the Warner Bros. title surprised its fandom with the announcement.

In the post, it references being able to fly a vacuum instead of a broom, as well as “testing your mettle in a custom dungeon”.
All in all, it sounds magical (bit on the nose, sorry).
Today is the day that this free update becomes available, though its arrival is one that has displeased some fans.
Not due to its content but because it’ll be unplayable for many. Sadly, as so often is the case, console is an afterthought when it comes to mods.

While this is disheartening for some, this is still a huge step forward for Hogwarts Legacy, as commented on by Twitter user @SynthPotato.
“Recent triple A game and it's getting full mod support? Huge W game,” they said.
“This is a genius move,” declared @AnnieMo15339232.
Overall, the fandom is thrilled to be able to tinker to their heart’s content in this fantastical Harry Potter inspired world.

For those left behind by this update, while we can’t offer much other than our condolences, there is something Hogwarts Legacy related to still be happy about. A recent update regarding the sequel has given us hope that the game is progressing in the right direction.
Hopefully, a console adaptation of this update will be released in the future. But if not, at least there’s Hogwarts Legacy 2 to look forward to.
