Valve’s Incredible FPS Half-Life 2 is getting a stunning RTX remake thanks to NVIDIA, and it’s blowing fans’ minds.
Despite releasing all the way back in 2004, Half-Life 2 remains one of the best games Valve has ever released. It’s also one of the most heartbreaking since we’re still waiting for Half-Life 3, which doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon, or ever.
Take a look at the upcoming RTX remake of Half-Life 2 below.
Half-Life 2 joins a long line of Valve series like Portal, Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress, all of which are yet to receive a third game. Regardless of that, the Half-Life games are still incredibly popular today, all of which can be played via Steam either standalone or part of the Orange Box collection. Now though, a new version of Half-Life 2 is on the way, an RTX remake from NVIDIA.

NVIDIA has made several RTX remakes of games in the past, including another fan-favourite Valve title, Portal. The Half-Life 2 remake completely overhauls the game’s graphics, transforming the dated visuals into a stunningly gorgeous recreation of themselves. It also boasts additional graphical effects like ray tracing and DLSS.
Reddit user Eboz255 shared the remake announcement, much to the excitement of fans, many of which have played Half-Life 2 several times over the last two decades. “I've been dying to see what Half-Life 2 would look like redone. From what I've seen, it looks pretty good overall," said one user. “No way. Looks like they redid models too,” added another.
Others found the remake amusing as Valve seem to sign off on anything as long as it doesn’t involve a third game in a beloved series.
The Half-Life 2 RTX remake is currently in development and doesn’t have an official release date as of yet.
