Leaked details on the long-awaited Half-Life 3 have been shared online, and it’s sounding like it’ll be worth the wait.
What was once just a silly meme in the mid-2000s is now an actual reality as it’s all but confirmed that Valve is finally working on a sequel to its critically-acclaimed Half-Life series.

It was recently Half-Life 2’s anniversary so there’s no better time for details on the third game to leak, and there’s even rumour Valve is also working on a sequel to Portal as well…

As for Half-Life 3 though Tyler McVicker of VNN shared a few insider details in a recent YouTube video, covering gameplay, setting and other aspects about the game.
Arguably the juiciest bit of information shared is Half-Life 3 will not be open-world, which in my opinion is great news as it creates more opportunity for innovative level design.
It sounds like Valve is thinking the same as it was also said the game will be focusing on innovative gameplay choices rather than chasing the latest graphics settings.
Other leaked details include Valve’s destruction engine Arty being used in development, NPCs will react to the environment and each other, and there’ll obviously be updated weapons and audio used.

While it’s exciting that Half-Life 3 is finally getting made it does beg the question if it’s too late, as while it’ll likely break the internet when it’s officially announced that doesn’t necessarily constitute a successful game when it comes to launch day.
Given how many people have been waiting for the game it’ll probably have some success, but it’ll also have to appeal to a new audience in addition to those who played the first two games.
As for a release date it could be anyone’s guess, but knowing Valve it likely won’t see launch day until it’s as perfect as it can be.
