How good GTA VI will look is up for debate, as we still have little to go on save for the odd leak here and there. Still, while we have no solid, monumental insight into how gorgeous it’ll look, a realistic mod for GTA V is teasing the kind of graphics we can anticipate.
I want to make it abundantly clear that this is speculation only, based on a fan-made vision rather than anything Rockstar has created. But what else are we to do? Thanks to Rockstar Games giving us little to work with, fans have to fill the void any way they can while they wait for GTA VI to become more than the decade-old legend it currently is. However, this mod, combined with the news that GTA VI will be “lightyears” ahead of Red Dead Redemption 2, graphically speaking, is enough to convince me that this is closer to truth than fiction. Especially considering RDR2 fans still think it looks incredible despite being five years old.

Fans who’ve already watched the beauty of this maxed-out GTA V mod have praised its aesthetics, with one YouTuber commenting, “That's beautiful, I am stunned by how realistic it looks”. However, while many are blown away by how sharp the mod is, there’s no denying that it lacks depth in its attention to detail, as expressed by user-mc2kk8yf5z, “I think GTA VI is going to be similar to this but with more DEPTH and more detail.”
The thing is, are all consoles going to be able to handle it if it does deliver? Players are already deeply concerned that the Xbox S will delay GTA VI even further, similar to the delays it's caused Baldur’s Gate 3. If this is the case, then will compromises need to be made? Though the Xbox S might be the least of our problems depending on how Netflix does in obtaining a licensing deal with Rockstar Games for previous GTA titles.

Unusual platform developments aside, we also can’t ignore the debate over whether better graphics actually equate to a better game. “I notice the better the graphics get the less I care to play; GTA III and IV blew minds with what they did in everything,” argues one gamer. “Even if GTA VI looked like this out of the box, they [the devs] have so much more they need to improve, from NPC behaviour to world interactions.”
Regardless of where on the fence you sit when it comes to graphics, GTA VI will need to deliver an aesthetic might unrivalled by any other game if all fans are to be won over. Even then, the game could still fall short elsewhere. Until we lay our eyes on official evidence, straight from Rockstar itself no less, we have to join the throng of fans on red alert as rumours run rampant that more GTA VI teasers are on the horizon.
