The Fallout franchise is one of the most popular RPG series in the video game industry and for good reason, they’re (mostly) fantastic games that stand the test of time.
The first Fallout game was released in 1997 on PC before it was in the hands of Bethesda Softworks. The original games were fantastic, especially when being played with the nostalgic trimetric camera perspective.

However, it’s fair to say that when Fallout 3 was released in 2008, it took the series to new heights by not only offering a huge open world but also a choice of two perspectives, first-person and third-person. Then in 2015, Fallout 4 arrived to much critical acclaim and this year it benefited from its long-awaited free new-gen update.

One of the best features of Fallout 4 is its talented modding community and at least for the most part, thanks to its Creation Club, mods are also available for the PlayStation and Xbox versions of the game.
A mod that is perhaps worth your attention, especially if you like survival games is the ‘Frost Survival Simulator’ which takes the difficulty up several notches and is available to download now via NexusMods courtesy of Redawt.
“Frost is a total overhaul of Fallout 4 set in the year 2082, over 200 years before the events of vanilla Fallout 4,” reads the description of the mod. “Experience a dark and atmospheric world and try to survive the Nuclear Winter....if you can.”

The free mod which is said to have taken “several hundreds” of hours to make includes a hallucination sanity system, new perks, new weapons, lore and much more. It all sounds very impressive indeed.
Unfortunately, the ‘Frost’ mod is only available for the PC version of the game and not on consoles. Fallout 4 is also available to subscribers of Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost.
