Batman Arkham Origins fan remaster looks like a whole new game

A glow-up for the caped crusader

Rocksteady Studios is in need of a redemption arc.

Fair to say, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was a colossal failure, and one that many of saw coming.

I’m curious as to whether it was Rocksteady or parent company Warner Bros. Games that thought it would be a good idea to create a live-service game.

When you’re known for creating single-player narrative-driven titles, it’s an odd pivot.

Thankfully, a redemption arc is in sight.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League may now have shut down its servers, but the game’s final content update did confirm that Batman, and his fellow heroes, were not actually killed.

It was a series of clones that were murdered during the game’s opening which reopens the possibility that Rocksteady could create a new single-player Arkham game.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has corroborated that, reporting that the studio is indeed working on a new Batman single-player experience - although whether it’s a continuation of the Arkham Trilogy or something new remains to be seen.

In the meantime, we’ll simply have to revisit the classic Arkham Trilogy to get our fix.

If you’re on PC, you can do so with revised visuals thanks to this fantastic fan remaster available via NexusMods.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an upcoming superhero title that’s shaping up nicely.

This mod is specifically for Arkham Origins - and there is no better place to start than the beginning.

Arkham Origins Graphics Mod’ is the work of modder Jb0238177, and it does exactly what it says on the proverbial tin.

According to the creator, the mod “disables the game’s motion blur, depth of field and fog”, instead adding “anisotropic filtering 16x, improved detail mode (fixes blurry low-res textures), and shadows for a clean restored look”.

There’s a lot of technical jargon there, but you can see the results of the mod for yourself by hopping over to the NexusMods listing which features plenty of dazzling before and after comparisons.

It’s available for free so do consider giving it a whirl on your next playthrough.
