Pokémon drops surprise freebie for all you Kanto fans

Gotta claim them all

Pokémon fans will soon be able to claim two incredible freebies, inspired by the pure nostalgia of the Kanto region and our first Pokémon adventure.

I’m of the firm opinion that the Gen I Pokémon games haven’t aged as badly as many would claim, and if you really don’t vibe with them you can always play the remakes Pokémon Fire Red & Leaf Green.

Check out the new Pokemon TCG Pocket game below

For those who are particularly nostalgic for what Pokémon used to be, you'll probably have been playing Pokémon TCG Pocket, the game/app that lets you collect digital Pokémon TCG cards and battle with them online.

While it’s still being updated over time it packs an impressive amount of content within it, and it’s been a treat building a virtual collection especially with the enhanced art works on the cards.

To celebrate the game’s success and as part of a general event players will soon have a new Wonder Pick available for them.

This is a mechanic that lets you pick from a selection of pre-determined cards for a chance to walk away with an especially rare one, usually from packs other players have opened.

This Wonder Pick will offer up a Charmander and Squirtle card to take away truly iconic Pokémon as they’re two of the starter picks in the first games, and gone on to become standout faces in the franchise as a whole.

It’s a bit gutting that Bulbasaur has been left out, but not really a surprise as it is the least popular of three despite being as equally adorable.

Anyay Charmander and Squirtle are up for grabs now so if you want to add them to your collection now’s the time to log on and do it.

Keep an eye out for future Wonder Pick events in the future as they’re a good source of hard-to-find cards that could take you a while to get naturally.
