Pokémon fans surprised with free Halloween downloads

The event gets underway very soon!

Halloween is fast approaching. What are your plans this year?

Are you going trick or treating? Attending a party? Or perhaps you’re like me, and simply plan on snuggling up with an autumn-scented candle and a nice cup of tea.

If that’s more your pace of life, then you may want to make Pokémon Scarlet & Violet your Halloween game of choice.

Sure, it’s an unexpected choice on the surface.

Naturally, if spooks are your thing, you may want to dive into Silent Hill 2 or Alan Wake 2’s The Lake House expansion.

If you prefer your spooks on the tamer side though, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet has added some charming Halloween freebies which you’ll soon be able to nab.

Next year will bring us Pokémon Legends Z-A. Take a look at the game in action below.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet players will soon be able to secure some rare candies.

The limited-time event runs from Monday 28 October at 00:00 UTC to Thursday 31 October at 23:59 UTC.

During this time, Gengar will appear more frequently in five-star Tera Raid Battles.

This specific type of Gengar will have Ghost as their Tera Type, perfect for the Halloween season.

You’ll want to challenge these ‘mons and should you win, you’ll be rewarded with some aptly themed rewards.

The main prize being “tons of Rare Candy”.

Yes, it’s not the most exciting giveaway of all time but hey, Tera Raid Battles are fun anyway so we can’t really complain at bagging a nice bonus.

They do say you should never look a gift horse in the mouth.

Of course, beyond Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, all eyes on Pokémon Legends Z-A.

The game is set to launch on Nintendo Switch next year, although that’s seemingly not the only console it’ll release on.

In the game’s reveal trailer, it was teased that it would launch across Nintendo systems, which implies the inclusion of the Switch’s successor.
