I don’t think I’m the only person who’d describe the reveal of the Nintendo Switch as anticlimactic.
That’s not to say I’m not excited for the console, because I most certainly am.
It’s just that the reveal simply confirmed the leaked model to be real.

It didn’t unveil much in the way of new information. We’re still totally in the dark about the console’s specs and what games it’ll bring us at launch.
Mario Kart 9 is the exception, of course, which was teased - if that’s even what the latest instalment is called.
We’re certain to learn more about that title (and others) during the Nintendo Direct due to be held on 2 April which is also where Nintendo will supposedly dive into the console’s specs.
In the meantime though, Nintendo has quietly teased an additional two Switch 2 launch titles that’ll seemingly be joining Mario Kart 9 on the console.

Take a look at the Nintendo Switch 2’s reveal below.
On 4 February, Nintendo held its Q3 earnings call where the company confirmed that three major releases are still on track to launch in 2025.
The first of those, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, isn’t all that interesting in this context.

The game is launching on 20 March, long before the Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo did then go on to reiterate though that Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond would also both be releasing this year, but refused to narrow down their releases outside of the very vague ‘2025’.
It’s assumed that this is likely because both games are Nintendo Switch 2 launch titles with their release date perhaps giving away the intended launch period of the console.
Of course, this is mere speculation but speculation that holds a lot of weight.

Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond only releasing on the OG Switch would be a downright bizarre business decision.
Even if they do surface on the OG Switch first, it feels like a given that Switch 2 ports will then manifest when that console is ready to release.
It’s with all this in mind that, in my eyes, the Nintendo Switch 2 is already becoming a must-buy console.
Let’s hope that 2 April Direct confirms our suspicions.
